मैं विगत 22 वर्षों से सरस्वती देवयन्तो हवन्ते के पूजारी जन्नूभाई द्वारा स्थापित एवं विकसित राजस्थान विद्यापीठ (डीम्ड टू बी) विश्वविद्यालय में कार्यरत हॅू विद्यापीठ विश्वविद्यालय ही नहीं उससे भी कुछ अधिक है जिसे परिभाषित करना कठिन हैं।
Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed) University, founded on August 21, 1937 by Late Pt. Janardan Rai Nagar, has over the years developed into an educational centre of excellence. He emphasize on qualitative education to women that be beneficial for entire family and society as a whole. The department is flourishing under the guidance of Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, Vice-Chancellor of the University. Department of Women's Studies aims to formulate and assimilate gender consciousness in women related knowledge systems. Dr. Manju Mandot, Director, Department of Women Studies stated that "There is a bidirectional relationship between economic development and women's Empowerment defined as improving the ability of women to access the constituents of development in particular health, education earning opportunities, rights and political participation. In one direction development alone can play a major role in driving down the quality between men and women. In other direction, continuing discrimination against women can hinder development. Empowerment of Women can accelerate the development in real sense.

“To fulfill the mission, The Department of Women Studies would involve in teaching, training, research, extension through networking, advocacy etc. in area of gender sensitization and empowerment.”
Objectives:
The department is committed to bring in the issues of gender disparity, violence against women as well as women’s and family empowerment in society and development with regional and national level and cultural contours within the academic discourse of women’s studies through its activities in the area of Teaching and Gender related courses, Research, Knowledge sharing and Awareness, Capacity Building, Extension Education, Resource centre.
(a) To initiate academic short term and long term courses to provide equal status to women in society.
(b) To liasioning with different department working in same issues and advocate the women related issues as per the need.
(c) To act as a resource centre for others women regarding women related materials.
(d) To contribute in the development of women’s studies as a distinct academic discipline through activities like curriculum development, teaching and publication and to translate the literature of this discipline this is into the regional languages.
(e) To hold the dialogue with other disciplines to enrich the interdisciplinary dynamic character of the women’s studies.
(f) To organise awareness programmes and campaigns so that the department could emerge as a resource for other organisations working in the field of women empowerment.
(g) To coordinate and collaborate with the NGO’s and the government institutional bodies, Community based organization to sensitise the society and create positive environment through the campaigns in order to empower the women and girls and make their voice against the violence.
(h) To enhance awareness through Capacity Building Workshops, Seminars, Exhibitions, and Education and as well as development and production of Communication materials for the purpose of empowering them to gain their rights.
Fulfilment of Objectives:
(a) The Department currently offers certificate course in Gender and Development that is specialised course to bring forth the Gender perspective in field of Development.
(b) Inter-disciplinary dialogue with Department of Computer Science & IT offer certificate course in Computer Animation and Graphics using Photoshop and Micro media Flash.
(c) Organise workshop on Women Empowerment and Computer literacy programme for Self Help Group of Various Community Centres.
(d) Organise National Seminar on Women Empowerment.
(e) Inter-disciplinary dialogue with other departments from the faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities emphasising the gender perspective in various streams courses.
(f) Sharing the gender perspective through various workshops with Students as well as the Field Workers of the Directorate of Continuing Education and Rural Technology.
(g) Gender Sensitisation and Life Skill Education workshops for students of various educational institutions as well as the villagers at the various Community Centres and the Centres for Lok Shikshan functioning under the umbrella of the Directorate of Continuing Education and Rural Technology of the University.
(h) Research on the Village Resources and Gender Allocation of the Select Villages in Udaipur District.
(i) Development of the study material for the courses in the regional language- Hindi
(j) Workshops with the field-workers to engage in the dialogue with the local practices, problems and processes.
(k) The trainings were organised to initiate the dialogue among the couples in rural area for Management of Gender Relations to create family as gender–just and violence-free social institution.
(l) Organised workshops of Life-Skill Education.
(m) Film-Shows in order to break the silence of women on the issues of violence and other social problems.
(n) Networking with other NGOs and Women’s Groups in various campaigns and advocacy initiatives.
(o) Develop computer-lab and E-library for preparing various reports, articles and study materials.
(p) Short term vocational training for the rural and tribal women in the select villages of Udaipur for computer literacy for income generating.
(q) Encourage the women to engage in the activities of self help groups as a mean to achieve empowerment, contribute to the participatory development of their respective villages and bring change with socialism in their respective localities.
