Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Udaipur was founded on august 1937. Late Manishi Pt Janardan Rai Nagar, who over the years, developed it into an educational center. The journey began before national freedom with a school aiming at catering educational needs of the masses who had no access to education. Since it was a period of national awakening to free the nation from the British Rule, the emphasis was given to the development of adult and community education.
The Organization from 1957-1986 initiated primary, secondary and higher education, began the first concept of night school and college for those who were employed in day time. It also developed school in deep seated tribal area where Government did not think to start education. The higher education in the field of social work and teacher education at Udaipur and Ajmer became the land mark of the organization. The University Grant Commission looking to the excellence of the work done in higher education, adult, literacy and rural development work through community and extension work in 300 villages in tribal area granted Rajasthan Vidyapeeth a status of Deemed-to-be university in 1987.
The Lokmanya Tilak Teachers Education College began in 1966 has done the excellent work in training teachers as such the college has produced 9000 graduate teachers and 1000 teachers qualified with M.Ed. and Ph.d. The college has acquired its reputation at the national level by getting award of 'A' grade (7 stars) by the National Accreditation Council (NAAC). The college is also providing the only one course of its own type at national level i.e. B.Ed. (Child Development) recognized by National Council of Teacher Education. Well qualified faculty and high quality of research work are the main attraction of the faculty of this Deemed-to-be University.
